Litigation Associate – Family Law

Downey Brand’s Family Law practice handles sophisticated family law issues for clients throughout California. We have an exceptional opportunity to work on complex financial cases, premarital agreements and custody issues. Prior experience in family law is preferred but not required. This role is for a mid to senior-level associate with at least 3 years of substantive civil litigation experience.The successful candidate will have a distinguished academic record and exceptional research and writing skills. Because family law associates have substantial client contact and make regular court appearances, strong verbal communication skills are required. Applicants also must have significant experience with all aspects of discovery and law and motion practice. Familiarity with basic business valuation principles, financial statements and tax concepts is a plus. Must be a current, active member of the California Bar Association.
Associate base compensation is determined by class year and substantive experience, and salary for attorneys at the level of experience indicated ranges from $167,000.00-$215,000.00. Downey Brand's bankruptcy lawyers represent a wide range of stakeholders in insolvency-related matters, including debtors in complex chapter 11 cases, committees, secured and unsecured creditors, receivers and other court-appointed fiduciaries, asset purchasers, trustees, hedge funds, equity security holders, and special servicers in many diverse industries such as real estate (office, retail, multi-family, land), food and agriculture, retail, banking and financial institutions, asset-based lending, environmental, construction, energy, manufacturing, engineering, mining, and oil and gas. The firm's Sacramento Bankruptcy and Litigation group has an opportunity for a mid- to senior-level associate attorney to join their practice. The person hired for this position will have 3-6 years of experience in bankruptcy and commercial litigation, including experience with all aspects of discovery and law and motion practice.This position will offer the candidate opportunities to work on chapter 11 bankruptcy cases, bankruptcy law and motion practice, contested matters and adversary proceedings, and commercial litigation. A distinguished academic record and exceptional research, writing and verbal communication skills are essential. The successful candidate will have strong public speaking and advocacy skills. Bankruptcy clerkship experience is a plus.
