From our three offices across California, our team participates in, contributes to, and supports more than 50 community organizations and programs. Many of our attorneys and professional staff volunteer their time and leadership, serving on nonprofit boards and directly engaging in initiatives that make a meaningful difference. For us, giving back is more than financial support—it’s about personal involvement and a longstanding commitment to strengthening our communities.

Helping Local Students Succeed Through Backpack Giveback
Downey Brand is proud to team up with United Way California Capital Region, CBS Sacramento, and Good Day Sacramento to support Backpack Giveback, an annual campaign that helps local students head back to school with the supplies they need to succeed.
Now through August 2, community members can drop off new backpacks (and school supplies) at designated locations throughout the region, including Downey Brand’s Sacramento and Stockton offices.
Downey Brand Supports Local Literacy Through Reading With Your Reporter
Throughout March, in celebration of National Reading Month, Downey Brand was proud to sponsor the first-ever Reading With Your Reporter program, an initiative from CBS News Sacramento and Good Day Sacramento that brought the joy of reading directly into local classrooms.
Together We Build: Women Build 2026
This past Saturday, we were proud to once again sponsor and participate in Habitat for Humanity of Greater Sacramento’s annual Women Build 2026 in Citrus Heights. Held throughout March, Women Build brings together hundreds of women from a wide range of industries and backgrounds to roll up their sleeves and make a meaningful impact by helping construct safe, affordable housing for families across the Greater Sacramento region.
Downey Brand Joins LSNC Race for Justice on Valentine’s Day Weekend
Downey Brand attorneys and staff once again laced up their running shoes and joined the Valentine Run/Walk “Race for Justice” in support of Legal Services of Northern California (LSNC). Traditionally held on the second Saturday in February, this year’s event coincided with Valentine’s Day, making for a fun and meaningful way to spend the weekend.
Downey Brand Celebrates 50 Years of Impact with Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services
This year marks the 50th anniversary of Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services (SFBFS)—a milestone celebrating five decades of partnership, service, and community impact. On Thursday, February 19, members of the Downey Brand team had the privilege of volunteering with SFBFS, helping sort fresh produce for local families.
Celebrating Leadership Sacramento’s Ribbon Cutting at Alchemist CDC’s Oak Park Sol Community Garden
Congratulations to the Sacramento Metro Chamber Leadership Sacramento Class of 2025 on the ribbon-cutting for its community service project at Alchemist CDC’s Oak Park Sol Community Garden on Thursday, January 15, 2026.
Throughout the year, this impressive group of local leaders contributed hundreds of volunteer hours and raised $193K in cash and in-kind donations to enhance the community garden. Their collective efforts helped create a welcoming gathering space, upgrade the outdoor kitchen, add art and educational signage, and expand the garden’s capacity to grow food for local distribution.
