DB In the Community

Congratulations to the Sacramento Metro Chamber Leadership Sacramento Class of 2025 on the ribbon-cutting for its community service project at Alchemist CDC’s Oak Park Sol Community Garden on Thursday, January 15, 2026.

Throughout the year, this impressive group of local leaders contributed hundreds of volunteer hours and raised $193K in cash and in-kind donations to enhance the community garden. Their collective efforts helped create a welcoming gathering space, upgrade the outdoor kitchen, add art and educational signage, and expand the garden’s capacity to grow food for local distribution.

“Hands-on, sustainable projects like this reflect the kind of service and leadership we value,” said Merry Iseley, Downey Brand’s Marketing Manager. “It’s also one of the many moments we’re proud to recognize through our 100 Years, 100 Acts initiative.”

The ribbon cutting was a great opportunity to celebrate the collaboration and community support that brought the project to life. Over the years, Downey Brand has had the privilege of supporting and participating in Leadership Sacramento, with more than a dozen attorneys having gone through the program.

“We were thrilled to celebrate the Class of 2025, including our own Kelly Breen,” Merry added. “And it was great to have Leadership Sacramento alumnus Brad Carroll (pictured with the DB commemorative brick) stop by to help mark the occasion.”
