Downey Brand Welcomes Five New Associates

Downey Brand is pleased to welcome new associates Alexandra Lizano, Katlyn Nelms (formerly Holmes), Holly Tokar, Paul Tracy, and Megan Unger. All were summer associates at Downey Brand before graduating law school and passing the California Bar Exam.

Alexandra Lizano is a member of the firm’s Natural Resources group in Sacramento where she represents clients in a wide range of environmental law matters. Alexandra graduated magna cum laude from Texas A&M University School of Law in 2020. While in law school, Alexandra was a summer law clerk for the United States Department of Justice Environment and Natural Resources Division and a law student research fellow at the National Agricultural Law Center. She also served as the Executive Editor of the Texas A&M Journal of Property Law. Alexandra received her Bachelor of Science in Environmental Policy Analysis and Planning from University of California at Davis in 2017.

Katlyn Nelms (formerly Holmes) is a member of the firm’s Litigation group in Sacramento where she represents clients in civil litigation and business law matters, with a primary focus on food and agriculture. While attending University of California at Davis School of Law, Katlyn was a member of the Tax Law Society, the Environmental Law Society, and also the Wine Law Society, where she served as President from 2018 – 2019. Katlyn was also the co-founder of the Business Law Society and served as Executive Editor of the Business Law Journal. Katlyn received her undergraduate degree from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo in 2017.

Holly Tokar is a member of the firm’s Natural Resources group in Sacramento. Her practice encompasses a broad range of matters including surface and groundwater rights, flood liability and protection, endangered species issues, and CEQA and NEPA compliance. While attending University of Colorado Law School, Holly was an Articles Editor for the Colorado Natural Resources, Energy & Environmental Law Review and served as a student attorney for the University of Colorado Getches-Green Natural Resources and Environmental Law Clinic. She earned her Bachelor of Science summa cum laude from University of California at Davis in 2017.

Paul Tracy is a member of the firm’s Litigation group in Sacramento where he represents clients in a wide range of civil litigation matters. While earning his J.D. from University of California at Davis School of Law, Paul served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Kimberly J. Mueller of the United States District Court, Eastern District of California and was Managing Editor of the UC Davis Law Review. Before law school, after earning his undergraduate degree from the United States Air Force Academy in 2008, Paul spent many years as a combat pilot in the United States Air Force, and then as a strategy consultant for Deloitte Consulting.

Megan Unger is a member of the firm’s Natural Resources group in San Francisco where she provides counsel on complex environmental, land use, and regulatory matters. Megan graduated magna cum laude from University of California, Hastings College of the Law in 2020. While in law school, Megan served as a Sack Teaching Fellow for Torts and a Teaching Assistant for Legal Research and Writing courses. Under the Hastings Law Journal, she was an Articles Editor and Diversity Committee member. Megan was also a mentor to first-year students through the UC Hastings Women’s Law Society. Megan is an alumna of Loyola Marymount University, having graduated in 2014 with her Bachelor of Arts magna cum laude in Women’s Studies and Environmental Studies.
