Downey Brand Welcomes 2023 Summer Associates

Downey Brand is delighted to welcome our 2023 Summer Associates to the firm. This year’s talented group of six law students come from four different law schools and will be based throughout our three office locations. During the ten week program, the Summer Associates will work on a variety of challenging and interesting projects for firm clients, all while getting to know our wonderful staff and attorneys both inside and outside of the firm. We look forward to a terrific summer with this group!

Meet our 2023 Summer Associates

Marino Dominguez – Marino just finished his first year at University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law and is a participant in the Sacramento County Bar Association’s Diversity Fellowship Program. He earned his undergraduate degree in Political Science from the University of the Pacific in Stockton. In 2022, Marino worked as an Intern at the San Joaquin County District Attorney’s office. He also has prior customer service experience at a golf course/country club. His personal interests include sports—specifically, football, basketball, and golf—and outdoor recreation, including fishing, hunting, and hiking. Marino will be based in our Sacramento office.

Morgan Graber – Morgan attends University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law and received a Bachelor of Science in Strategic Communication with a minor in Spanish from Texas Christian University. She spent her 1L summer as a Law Clerk at the Office of Administrative Hearings, and has prior work experience in public relations and marketing. Morgan recently competed with a team (including incoming Fall Associate/2022 Summer Associate Tom Gherini) in the ABA National Moot Court Competition in Washington, D.C., advancing to the quarter-final round and tying for 5th place overall. Her personal interests include long-distance running, reality T.V., hiking, and jigsaw puzzles. Morgan will be based in our Sacramento office.

Anis Guedoir – Anis attends UCLA School of Law and received his Bachelor of Arts in Public Health from the University of California at Berkeley. He is originally from Manteca and worked for his family’s furniture business throughout college. He’s also worked as an academic tutor for high school students in the Berkeley Unified School District’s English Language Development Department. He enjoys soccer, politics, journalism, writing, business, travel, and philosophy. Anis will be based in our Stockton office.

Sarah Nagle – Sarah attends William & Mary Law School in Williamsburg, Virginia and earned Bachelor of Arts degrees in History and English from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. She was a Summer Associate at an Atlanta law firm last year, where she worked previously as an Assistant Paralegal and later as a Senior Business Immigration Analyst. She also worked as a Judicial Extern at the Virginia Court of Appeals. Sarah’s community service work includes a position as a Novice Coach for Emory Crew and as a Legal Volunteer with Innovation Law Lab in Atlanta, where she assisted with asylum applications. Sarah will be based in our San Francisco office.

Ava Sutton – Ava attends University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law and received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a Minor in Communication Studies from the University of Nevada, Reno. She completed her undergraduate degree in three years and is participating in the accelerated honors program at McGeorge. Ava spent her 1L summer working as a Law Clerk for the Placer County District Attorney. She also spent a year working as an Undergraduate Intern for the Washoe County District Attorney in Reno, Nevada. Ava participated in McGeorge’s Global Lawyering Skills Top Oral Advocate Competition recently and received the award for Top Oral Advocate at the competition. Her personal interests include Peloton cycling, pickleball, reading fiction, and healthy cooking. Ava will be based in our Sacramento office.

Laura Tepper – Laura attends U.C. Berkeley School of Law. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in English and Studio Art from Dartmouth College in New Hampshire and holds two Master’s Degrees from the University of California, Berkeley, College of Environmental Design: one in Landscape Architecture & Environmental Planning and another in City & Regional Planning. Laura spent her 1L summer working as a Legal Intern for Monchamp Meldrum in San Francisco and worked for nearly seven years as a Senior Project Manager for Mission Bay Development Group/Parklab. Additionally, Laura was a Lecturer for over five years at the Berkeley College of Environmental Design, where she taught Drawing, Digital Graphics, and Sustainable Landscapes & Cities courses. She enjoys volunteering at the San Francisco Botanical Garden, backcountry skiing around Lake Tahoe, exploring international cities, and landscape painting. Laura will be based in our San Francisco office.
