State Water Board Extends Deadline to Protest Change Petition for DWR’s Delta Tunnel Project

On February 29, 2024, the State Water Resources Control Board (State Water Board) issued notice of a water rights change petition (Change Petition) for the Department of Water Resources’ (DWR) proposed Delta Conveyance Project (DCP) and an April 29, 2024 deadline to file protests. The DCP is the single-tunnel successor to DWR’s prior conveyance project, known as the WaterFix twin tunnels. On April 17, in response to requests by the public, the State Water Board extended the protest period by two weeks to establish a new deadline of May 13, 2024.
