OpenET Unveils New Interface Tool for Irrigators to Assess Crop Evapotranspiration Data

In early March 2025, a research collective called OpenET launched its Farms and Ranch Management Support (FARMS) tool, which can visualize and estimate water usage across the western United States by using satellite imaging to measure crop evapotranspiration rates. With funding and technical support from NASA and the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), OpenET developed the FARMS tool to provide real-time evapotranspiration data directly to farm operators to enhance decision-making around agricultural planning, water conservation, and water efficiency for local and regional agriculture communities.
