Downey Brand is pleased to announce that James Wigginton has joined the firm’s corporate, finance, and mergers and acquisitions practices. James began his career as a clerk at the U.S. Court of International Trade in New York City, and he then developed a broad transactional practice in the Los Angeles office of a large international law firm. He has experience working with enterprises in the United States, Europe, and Asia, investment banks, private equity funds, and family-owned businesses. James will be based in Downey Brand’s Sacramento office.
“James is a valuable addition to our firm and to our clients,” said Matt Ellis, Chair of the firm’s Corporate, Real Estate, Securities, and Tax Department. “He brings with him a tremendous amount of knowledge and experience in corporate law matters, mergers, asset sales, financing, and governance. We are excited to have him as part of our team.”
James received his J.D. from Stanford Law School in 2013 after earning a Master of Philosophy (M.Phil) from the University of Cambridge and a B.A., summa cum laude, from Brigham Young University.
“I’m delighted to be joining Downey Brand at this unprecedented time,” James said. “Sacramento is my hometown, and I’m eager to use my deal-making experience to ensure the success of our local businesses and to strengthen our community.”
