Downey Brand Welcomes Brenda Bass to Natural Resources Practice in Sacramento

Downey Brand is pleased to announce that associate Brenda Bass has joined the firm’s highly regarded environmental law and natural resources practice. Working out of the firm’s Sacramento office, Brenda (formerly of Somach Simmons and Dunn) represents private and public agency clients in complex environmental matters involving CEQA, land use, and water quality issues.
Since graduating from law school, Brenda has accumulated significant experience in environmental law. She has defended numerous clients against Clean Water Act violation demand letters and lawsuits and has provided clients with sensible regulatory compliance advice in connection with state and federal laws governing stormwater and wastewater quality. She also assists agricultural enterprises in complying with rapidly changing irrigation discharge regulations.
Brenda earned her Juris Doctor in 2015 with academic distinction from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School. While in law school, Brenda worked as a Judicial Extern for Judge Ronald H. Sargis of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court and for a public affairs organization as a research associate investigating strategies behind environmental lawsuits aimed at development projects. Brenda earned her Bachelor of Arts from the University of California at Davis in 2012.
Beyond her legal work, Brenda enjoys photography, yoga, and the beauty of the Northern California outdoors.
