Downey Brand Partner Elected Vice President of Fairytale Town’s Board of Directors

January 28, 2022

Downey Brand is delighted to announce that real estate partner Danielle Stephens has been elected Vice President of Fairytale Town’s Board of Directors.

Danielle served on the Fairytale Town Board of Directors for six years before becoming Vice President of the literacy-based children’s park in 2022. This comes at an exciting time as Fairytale Town recently broke ground on a $6 million expansion, which has received community support to date in the amount of $3.5 million and funding from the State of California in the amount of $1.8 million. This is the park’s first major expansion since opening in 1959.

“The response from the community in support of this new chapter in Fairytale Town’s history has been amazing. Everyone cherishes their memories of growing up at Fairytale Town and wants to be a part of its future,” Danielle said.

The project stretches a half-acre in total, and includes a brand new 2,782 square foot indoor story center, a new admissions building with faster entry, an outdoor classroom dedicated to school field trips and workshops, improved restrooms, a gift shop, enhanced concession stands, and new playsets representing different cultures.

“You should see the drawings. The thatched roof story center with its large windmill will become a centerpiece at the park similar to the castle and the Mother Goose stage. In the story center, children can write, act out, and produce their own stories, and it give us the opportunity to offer more to the community in the winter months.”

While the park expansion has officially begun, a ground breaking ceremony with Mayor Darrell Steinberg will commence in the coming months to honor this important addition to the community.
