Downey Brand Partner Andrea Clark Elevated to Chair of Capital Public Radio’s Board of Directors
March 22, 2023
Downey Brand is pleased to announce that water law partner Andrea Clark has been elevated to Chair of Capital Public Radio’s (CapRadio) Board of Directors. She will serve in the Chair position for two years.
Andrea, who has served on CapRadio’s Board since 2018, including most recently as Chair of its Strategic Planning Committee from 2019 – 2022, is leading the Board during an exciting period of growth and expansion. In 2023 the station anticipates relocating its headquarters and launching a new state-of-the-art community gathering and event space (CapRadio Live), both in downtown Sacramento, just one block from one another.
“CapRadio has thrived on the Sacramento State campus since its first student-led broadcast in 1964, but has outgrown that space,” said Andrea. “The new headquarters will serve the station’s growing staff, and CapRadio Live will foster community engagement and creativity in downtown Sacramento,” she added.
Long valued and trusted for its commitment to providing information, music, and entertainment that serves the community, CapRadio continues to expand its footprint. In addition to Sacramento and much of the surrounding area, including Stockton and Modesto, CapRadio’s reach will extend to Chico and Humboldt.
“The station has expanded to serve an even greater part of the state through its management of North State Public Radio at Chico and KHSU at Cal Poly Humboldt. It’s a privilege to serve on the CapRadio Board and be a part of its vision to inform and engage the community.”
The relationship between Downey Brand and CapRadio dates back to 1982 when the station became an official NPR affiliate with legal assistance from Jack Downey. Right from the start, Downey Brand believed in Capital Public Radio’s value to the community. Today, the firm continues to support the station’s mission through underwriting and attorney service on the Board of Directors. Downey Brand water law partner Kevin O’Brien served on the Board from 2008 – 2015 and was Chair from 2011 – 2013.
