Downey Brand Honored in Sacramento Business Journal’s Best Places to Work

October 11, 2022

Downey Brand is pleased to announce that it won second place in the Sacramento Business Journal’s Best Places to Work “large company” category, comprised of organizations with 150-499 employees. This marks the fifth consecutive year being recognized as one of the Sacramento region’s Best Places to Work.

Best Places to Work honors companies with operations in El Dorado, Placer, Sacramento, and Yolo counties that cultivate a great workplace. Employees of nominated companies were asked to answer a survey that measures employee engagement in several categories, including teamwork, trust, compensation, and benefits. A third-party company evaluated the responses and identified first-, second-, and third-place winners in each size category.

Cindy Snook, Downey Brand’s Director of Human Resources, said, “It is truly an honor for our firm to be recognized as one of the Best Places to Work. I feel privileged to work with such an amazing and talented group of individuals. We strive to make our employees feel valued and appreciated and at the end of the day, that is really what matters to me.”

According to Lindsay Oxford, Associate Editor of the Sacramento Business Journal, a recurring theme of this year’s rankings was the recognition of companies adapting to new workplace norms.

We continue to make every effort to recognize individuals and teams for a job well done, to celebrate as a firm in ways large and small, and create opportunities for our employees to connect. Partners frequently share details of successful results obtained on behalf of clients with all employees to make clear how their contributions fit into the big picture. We continuously evaluate and invest in our training and resources to ensure everyone is well-equipped to succeed.

Has your workforce returned to the office or will it in the future? Our workforce has returned to the office on a hybrid schedule. All staff work on site a minimum of three days per week. Remote work has provided our staff the ability to work from home to assist in the work-life balance that so many of us desire coming out of the pandemic. We believe the new schedule is slowly bringing back the social interactions that we once valued before the pandemic impacted the workforce. We are reintroducing our regular social activities within the office such as continuing education lunches, staff celebration lunches, ice cream carts and our ongoing charity events.
