February 7, 2020

Downey Brand is pleased to announce that Danielle Stephens, previously with Diepenbrock Elkin, has rejoined the firm’s corporate and real estate practice as a partner – she was an associate from 2007-2012 and counsel from 2012 to 2014.

“We are thrilled to have Danielle back at the firm,” said Matt Ellis, Chair of the firm’s Corporate, Real Estate, Securities, and Tax Department. “Her knowledge, experience, and outstanding legal abilities further strengthen our real estate practice and enhance our presence in the Sacramento region and beyond.

Danielle’s practice focuses on leasing (including office, retail, industrial, and agricultural land), acquisitions and sales, financing (including CMBS and SBA loans), easements, title matters, and transactions involving contaminated properties (including due diligence and remediation) with a focus on contractual negotiations requiring collaborative deal-making. Her clients include investors, business owners, landlords, property owners, and developers.

Danielle received her J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law in 2004 after earning her B.A., cum laude, from the University in 2002. Danielle serves as Pro Bono Counsel for the Food Literacy Center and on the Board of Directors for Fairytale Town, positions she has held since 2015. She also serves on the Program Committee of California Real Estate for Women (CREW).

“Returning to Downey Brand to work alongside Matt Ellis and so many other talented attorneys throughout the firm was an easy decision for me, knowing my clients would benefit tremendously from the depth and breadth of the Downey Brand bench,” said Danielle. “Plus, I wanted to be in the room where it happens and Downey Brand is that room – I couldn’t be happier.”
