Clean Water & Wetlands in California

August 27-28, 2020

Law Seminars International - A Comprehensive Update on New Developments

Downey Brand partner Nicole Granquist and senior associate Meghan Quinn will be taking part in a two-day virtual event presented by Law Seminars International on August 27-28, 2020. The event, which Nicole is co-chairing, will focus on new developments regarding clean water and wetlands in California. Topics include waters of the United States redefinition, the National Environmental Policy Act rewrite, and other regulatory and legislative developments as well as practical tips for resolving water quality issues.

In addition to co-chairing the event, Nicole will be presenting information related to anticipated impacts to day-to-day section 401 and 404 permitting. She will address updates to nationwide permits, exemptions, exemptions from exemptions, and options for expedited review. Further, Nicole will provide analysis of hypothetical project scenarios to determine the actions which may trigger state jurisdiction.

Meghan is taking part in two discussions. First, she will present an update on clean water and wetlands developments in California. Specifically, Meghan will discuss 2019 State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB) wetlands regulations and Regional Water Quality Control Board trends as well as offer an update on related court cases. Later in the day, Meghan will join Nicole in the discussion regarding the factors to consider for 401 and 404 projects.
