California State Water Resources Control Board’s New Sanitary Sewer Systems Waste Discharge Requirements to Take Effect This Summer

Late in 2022, the California State Water Resources Control Board (State Water Board) unanimously adopted and reissued a revamped version of its Sanitary Sewer Systems General Discharge Requirements Order (SSS WDR), which takes effect on June 5, 2023. (State Water Board Order No.2022-0103-DWQ). The SSS WDR contains several immediate and long-term compliance requirements, and public agencies subject to the SSS WDR are highly encouraged to start preparing for the new requirements as soon as possible.
