Downey Brand Wins a 1st Place Award in Sacramento Business Journal’s Best Places to Work

October 29, 2018

Downey Brand has won first place in the Sacramento Business Journal’s Best Places to Work “large” category, which represents companies with 150-499 employees.

Best Places to Work honors companies with operations in El Dorado, Placer, Sacramento or Yolo counties that foster a great workplace. After a nomination process, over 100 employees provided feedback on the environment, leadership, and benefits associated with their employers. A third-party company evaluated responses and identified first-, second-, and third-place winners in each size category.

Scott Shapiro, Downey Brand’s managing partner and part of the Firm for 24 of its 92 years, said, “Leaders at Downey Brand – from our executive committee to practice group leaders to administrative directors and managers – focus on creating a vibrant, inclusive, team-based workplace. We strive to provide transparency and opportunity, and we encourage our attorneys and staff to take ownership of their work and futures. We could not be happier to receive this award.”

“This was the first time that Downey Brand took part in the Journal’s Best Places to Work competition,” said Cindy Snook, the Firm’s HR Director. “We were honored that our employees had so many good things to say about working here. It inspires us to continue providing the best possible work experience for our team.”

According to employees, some of the things that make Downey Brand a good place to work are an informal and collegial atmosphere that helps build and maintain good working relationships, frequent social events, ongoing professional training, spot bonuses, and a healthy package of benefits.
