Alexis G. Ortega Joins Downey Brand’s Litigation Practice

Downey Brand is pleased to announce Alexis G. Ortega has joined the firm’s litigation department as counsel and a member of the trust and estate litigation team.

Alexis Ortega comes to Downey Brand with nearly twenty years of litigation experience encompassing a wide range of matters, including contested wills, breach of fiduciary duty claims, and disputes over trust administration. Her background in international law and prior experience as an Assistant Attorney General for the Republic of Palau, where she advised on legal issues including regulatory compliance, foreign business, and corporate tax issues, enriches her perspective and practice, allowing her to provide an expanded range of legal services to individual beneficiaries, trustees, executors, and other fiduciaries.

Alexis graduated from Golden Gate University School of Law in 2006 with a Certificate of Distinction in International Law and holds an LL.M. in International Law and American Legal Practice from Loyola Law School. In addition to being licensed in California, Alexis is also a British Solicitor.

Outside of work, Alexis is a board member of Keaton’s Child Cancer Alliance and donates her time and legal knowledge to support children with cancer and their families throughout Northern California. She also speaks French and Italian and is a coffee and pastry connoisseur.
