Downey Brand is pleased to announce that energy and public utility regulation partner Megan Somogyi has been elected President of Ballet22’s Board of Directors.

Ballet22 is a San Francisco-based ballet company focused on commissioning works that bring LGBTQIA+ experiences and representation to the stage. Megan begins her term as President after serving on Ballet22’s inaugural Board of Directors since June of last year.

“I am honored that the Board has placed its trust in me. Ballet22 is a remarkable company doing groundbreaking work, and I am so privileged to take part in supporting the dancers, choreographers, and directors who are changing what ‘ballet’ means,” Megan said. “I invite everyone in the San Francisco Bay Area to attend our upcoming show at Z Space in San Francisco, on July 28 and 29—it will be a performance to remember!”

Megan has a decade of experience in regulatory, transactional, and appellate matters relating to public utilities, with a focus on energy, transportation, and water. She represents municipalities and utility clients in electric transmission line siting proceedings, ratemaking litigation, sale and transfer of electric utility property, and utility certification proceedings before the CPUC and other regulatory agencies, with the occasional trip to the appellate courts. She also has significant expertise on CPUC regulation of utility wildfire prevention and proactive de-energization of power lines.
