Downey Brand Legal Secretary Marci Frazier Wins Elevate Award

Downey Brand, a prominent law firm with offices in Sacramento, San Francisco, Stockton, and Reno, is pleased to announce that Marci Frazier, legal secretary and president of the Sacramento Legal Secretaries Association (SLSA), has won the Legal Professionals Inc.’s (LPI) 2021 Elevate Award.

She was honored with the award at LPI’s 2021 annual conference by LPI president and fellow SLSA member, Lynne Prescott. Marci was one of several honorees to receive the Elevate Award, which was awarded to individuals from numerous legal secretary associations in California that are subchapters of LPI. Marci was recognized for her “innovative ways of bringing people together” at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“To be acknowledged for the work that went into keeping things going at SLSA—it’s amazing,” Marci said.

Marci has worked in the legal field for more than 30 years as a civil and bankruptcy litigation secretary in both Illinois and California. She began working at Downey Brand in 2015 shortly after moving to California from Chicago and currently supports four attorneys at the firm. Marci was elected president of SLSA by her peers in 2020 and is serving her second term presently.

“It’s a task for someone coming from out-of-state (to work in California’s legal field),” Marci said, “That’s why SLSA has been so amazingly helpful to me and my career—just the advancements I’ve been able to make in the 6 years that I’ve been here, I owe so much of it to SLSA.”
