Downey Brand General Counsel Appointed to Inaugural SCBA Ethics Committee

September 9, 2016

Downey Brand General Counsel Dan Carroll has been appointed to the Sacramento County Bar Association’s inaugural Ethics Committee. Dan, who has filled the General Counsel function for the firm for over twenty years, previously served on the State Bar’s Standing Committee on Professional Responsibility and Conduct, from 2007 through 2011. “I’m honored by this appointment,” Dan said. “I’m looking forward to working again with a group of excellent attorneys whose focus is helping other attorneys navigate California’s complicated web of law on professional responsibility.”

The County Bar Ethics Committee is charged with developing a draft bylaw describing its functions. Among other things, the committee is expected to be an ethics resource for the Board of the county bar, produce continuing legal education programs on ethics at least twice a year, and provide other ethics resources to county bar members such as articles in Sacramento Lawyer magazine and potentially publication of ethics opinions similar to those provided by other county bars such as San Francisco, Los Angeles, Orange, and San Diego counties.
