Dave Cameron Selected to Water Leaders Class of 2021

February 12, 2021

Downey Brand is pleased to announce that partner and water resources attorney David Cameron has been selected to join the Water Education Foundation’s 2021 Water Leaders Class.

Each Water Leaders class draws applicants from throughout California. Only 20+ participants from a diverse range of stakeholder groups are chosen each year. Applicants are typically mid-career working professionals looking to broaden their leadership in California’s water community. The Water Leaders program prepares class members to take a dynamic and cooperative approach in addressing water resource issues. You can view the roster for the 2021 class here.

Participation in the program involves a significant time commitment. Over the course of the year-long program class members work closely with a mentor who works as a policymaker or represents a prominent stakeholder group. In addition to other activities and events, class members attend classes, educational tours, workshops, and conferences. Further, class members attend special work-group meetings, craft written reports, and develop and present policy recommendations on assigned topics.

Since its inception in 1997, more than 400 water professionals have graduated from the Water Leaders program, including Downey Brand water law partner Rebecca Smith, who was a member of the 2018 Water Leaders Class.
