- Witkin Award for Academic Excellence in Jurisprudence
- First chair in bench trial for general contractor against terminated employee to recover the value of heavy machinery that defendant converted. Secured six-figure award in client’s favor and complete dismissal of employee’s cross-complaint.
- Secured a complete denial for a preliminary injunction brought against winery and craft brewery in an unlawful detainer suit that sought to wrongfully seize brewing and bottling equipment valued in excess of $2 million. The injunction was denied on the papers, an order that the court affirmed after Mark’s oral argument.
- Achieved summary judgment in favor of fire-sprinkler contractor, resulting in a final judgment in contractor’s favor as to claims of contractor liability, premises liability, products liability, general negligence, and wrongful death stemming from alleged asbestos exposure. Mark’s cross-examination of plaintiffs’ chief product-identification witness during his deposition formed a key basis of the motion for summary judgment.
- Drafted motion for attorney’s fees that resulted in an award of all fees and costs in favor of surety client after the trial court granted summary judgment in surety’s favor on contractor’s breach of contract claim.
- Assisted client in quieting title to a parcel of real property by adverse possession, resulting in a final judgment affirming that client was the sole, rightful holder of title.
- Represented agricultural products distributor in corporate dissolution proceedings involving allegations of insider dealing, breach of fiduciary duty, and embezzlement of corporate funds.
Mark is deeply passionate about international travel and meeting and forming lasting connections with foreign peoples. While emigrating to the United States as refugees from former Soviet republics in the early 90s, his parents lived in several countries along their journey to save up the necessary funds to eventually make it to the U.S. Regardless of the country, they were welcomed by locals with open arms and were sustained largely by the outpouring of love they received. Mark and his wife spend their time traveling abroad seeking to reconnect with and repay the love and generosity that carried his family to America.
