Faculty, 1-Hour CLE Program for Practising Law Institute
The devastating wildfires that erupted across the greater Los Angeles metropolitan area on January 7, 2025, have led to tragic loss of life, significant business interruption, and billions of dollars in property damage. By the end of January, the fires had consumed over 29,000 acres and damaged or destroyed thousands of homes and businesses.
In the aftermath of such catastrophic events, questions have risen around the post-fires rebuilding efforts and the legal frameworks around it. Join Downey Brand partners Megan Somogyi and Amy Higuera for a presentation designed to help participants understand the executive orders, legal permitting issues and other legal frameworks passed by the State of California in the aftermath of these wildfires and the discussion will delve into what comes next.

- Understand permitting issues, including the Governor’s Executive Orders suspending permitting requirements (CEQA, Coastal Act)
- Learn about the utility infrastructure rebuild authority and related issues
- Recognize wildfire mitigation program regulations, including preemptive power shutoffs
