Downey Brand Names New Partners and Counsel

Downey Brand is pleased to announce that Steve Hymas and Adrian Webber in the firm’s Sacramento office and Brian Schusterman in the firm’s Reno office have been elected to the firm partnership effective January 1, 2017. In the firm’s San Francisco office, Arielle Harris has been promoted to Counsel.
A member of the firm’s Corporate practice, Steve Hymas represents companies in complex business matters with an emphasis on technology and intellectual property. His experience includes licensing and distribution agreements, development and hosting agreements, manufacturing and supply agreements, franchise agreements, intellectual property matters, and mergers and acquisitions.
Steve earned his Juris Doctor degree with great distinction from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law and holds an M.B.A. and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Computer Information Systems. Steve also serves as a Judge Advocate in the California Army National Guard, where he currently works as cyber defense counsel.
Adrian Webber is a litigator who has successfully represented national companies, regional businesses, sole proprietors, and individuals in state and federal court at both the trial court and appellate levels. His expertise includes corporate contract and real property litigation, food and agriculture litigation, construction litigation, products liability actions, and matters involving fraud, unfair competition, trade libel, and antitrust claims.
Adrian earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law and his Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, from the University of California at San Diego.
Brian Schusterman is a member of the firm’s Corporate practice based in Reno, where he represents clients in commercial business transactions, business formation and governance issues, mergers and acquisitions, financing transactions, and real estate matters. His clients range from local companies and start-ups to larger international corporations. Licensed to practice in both Nevada and California, Brian regularly serves as local counsel in complex multi-jurisdiction transactions involving Nevada and California corporate and real property matters.
Brian earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of California at Davis School of Law and his Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, from Colby College.
A member of the firm’s Natural Resources group, Arielle Harris assists both private clients and public agencies with land use entitlements and compliance with environmental regulations for a variety of projects such as residential and commercial development, renewable energy projects, wastewater infrastructure, mining operations, and industrial facilities. Arielle routinely advises clients on California planning and zoning laws, the California Environmental Quality Act, the National Environmental Policy Act, endangered species, the public trust doctrine, historic and cultural resources, and the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act. Arielle has successfully represented her clients at the administrative level, as well as in litigation at both the trial and appellate level.
Arielle holds a Juris Doctor degree in Civil Litigation from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Michigan.
