Associate Wilfred Gual Jr. Joins Downey Brand’s Labor and Employment Practice

December 12, 2023

Downey Brand is pleased to announce associate Wilfred Gual Jr. has joined the firm’s labor and employment practice.

Wilfred joins the firm following his work as a criminal defense attorney at the Alameda County Public Defender’s Office, advocating on behalf of indigent clients. During his time at the public defender’s office, Wilfred managed hundreds of felony and misdemeanor cases through all stages of litigation, including arraignments, investigations, pre-trial negotiations, preliminary hearings, trials, and sentencing hearings. In his current practice, Wilfred is passionate about helping clients assert their rights in complex litigation and employment law matters. He provides clients with personalized advice and legal representation for a wide range of cases related to discrimination, wage and hour, and the Family and Medical leave act at the federal, state, and local level. Despite the many complexities of California’s ever-changing labor and employment laws, Wilfred is dedicated to asking the important questions, finding unexpected answers, and delivering excellent results for each and every one of his clients.

Wilfred earned his B.A. from Queens College in 2012 and his J.D. from the CUNY School of Law in 2021. While attending law school, Wilfred worked as a legal intern for the New Jersey Office of the Public Defender, in addition to interning for the Employment Law Project at the New York Legal Assistance group.

In his free time, he enjoys relaxing while pairing a good cup of coffee with a delightful pastry, listening to music, and exploring California with his wife and their puppy, Nate.
