Ronak Patel focuses his practice on both domestic and foreign patent prosecution matters and has broad experience with technologies in the mechanical, electromechanical, software, and design arts.
Ronak’s technical experience with respect to patents includes consumer electronics, medical devices, construction machines, business methods, power tools, agricultural systems, internet of things (IoT) devices, and control systems.
Prior to joining Downey Brand, Ronak worked at an IP boutique firm where he prepared and prosecuted patent applications, rendered opinions on patent validity, patentability, and non-infringement, and performed pre-litigation due diligence. Ronak’s legal experience also includes an externship with the Honorable Amy St. Eve at the District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
While working as a mechanical/propulsion engineer for United Launch Alliance, Ronak performed both propulsion and cryogenic system analyses for the Delta IV Rocket. Ronak also worked as an engineer at Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory where he designed and developed electromechanical structures for particle accelerator subassemblies as well as oversaw their manufacture both domestically and abroad.
