DOWNEY BRAND ADDS NEW LAND USE LAW ATTORNEY
Christopher L. Powell joins the firm's energy, land use and mining law practice as an associate attorney. He received his J.D. from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in 2007 and his B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley in 2000. Prior to joining Downey Brand, Powell was an associate with Gresham Savage Nolan & Tilden in San Bernardino, California.
DOWNEY BRAND ADDS NEW LITIGATION ATTORNEY
Jenny D. Dennis joins the firm's litigation law practice. She received her J.D. from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in 2007 and her B.A. from California State University, Sacramento in 2004. Prior to joining Downey Brand, Dennis was a Deputy District Attorney with the San Joaquin County District Attorney's Office. She will practice out of the firm's Stockton office.
SAN FRANCISCO OFFICE OPENS WITH TWO NEW PARTNERS Jon Welner joins the firm's environmental law practice as a partner. He earned his J.D. from Stanford Law School in 1995 and his A.B., with distinction, in political science from Stanford University in 1989. Jon represents private companies and public agencies on a wide range of environmental and natural resource issues. He has worked extensively in real estate, particularly redevelopment of contaminated properties; handled early transfer and clean-up of closed military bases; developed sophisticated legal compliance systems for large companies; and advised on the myriad environmental issues faced by entities doing business in California. His clients include real estate developers and companies in biotechnology, energy, water and waste recycling. Welner also has experience in prevailing wage law, commercial leasing and the regulation of radioactive materials. He previously served as special assistant to the secretary of the California Resources Agency. Prior to joining Downey Brand, Jon was with Paul Hastings in San Francisco. Zachary
R. Walton also joins the
firm's environmental law practice as a partner. He received his J.D.
from Vanderbilt University Law School in 1995 and his B.A., with distinction,
in history from the University of California, Berkeley in 1992. Zack
represents industrial facilities, energy and water providers, developers
and financial institutions in transactions and permitting and enforcement
matters concerning air quality, water rights, water supply, water quality,
endangered species, hazardous waste, contaminated properties and occupational
safety and health. Recently appointed to the Executive Committee for
the Environmental Law Section of the State Bar of California, Walton
has authored numerous articles on water rights, water quality, endangered
species, environmental justice and climate change. Prior
to joining Downey Brand, Zack was with Paul Hastings in San Francisco. |
