Downey Brand attorneys are available to represent clients in patent
infringement matters and to work with out-of-state patent counsel who
need the assistance of local counsel. We regularly represent businesses
in responding to cease and desist letters and addressing patent licensing
issues.
Although Downey Brand is not presently involved in the prosecution
of patents, it will refer its clients to patent counsel when patent
protection is warranted. In this way, Downey Brand can assist its clients
in selecting a patent attorney who is well-schooled in the science of
the invention, be it chemistry, electrical engineering, biotechnology,
or mechanical engineering. As part of its trade secret practice, we
will work with our clients to strike the appropriate balance between
patent and trade secret protection. The firm's experience includes:
