Special Giving Programs
Support of Children and Families During the Holidays
2008 marks the law firm's
12th year of making holiday charitable donations to nonprofits on behalf
of our clients. Over $60,000 has been distributed to charities that
involve feeding the poor, caring for children, and nurturing families.
Donations are generally made in the various regions we serve, including
the Sacramento, Stockton, South Placer and Reno communities. Past recipients
include Food for Families, the Make-a-Wish-Foundation for Sacramento,
the Keaton Raphael Memorial Foundation, St. John's Shelter for Women
and Children, the Mary Graham Children's Shelter, and the Child Abuse
Prevention Council of Placer County, among others.
Youth in Arts Award
This award honors a high school student in the Sacramento region who has demonstrated excellence in visual arts, including paintings, sculptures, photography, ceramics and other forms of art. The winner of the award receives a $1,000 cash prize and recognition at a Saturday evening ballet performance. There are also three runners-up who receive $100 cash prizes, complimentary tickets to the ballet, as well as community recognition.
Downey Brand Environmental Law Scholarship at UC Davis, King Hall School of Law
Established in 1998, the Downey Brand Environmental Law Scholarship is awarded to a law student who has demonstrated a substantial commitment to the UC Davis School of Law environmental and natural resources program during his or her law school career.
