Bio

Jan Fleener is a partner in Downey Brand's Litigation Practice Group and has extensive experience in all facets of complex commercial litigation and alternative dispute resolution. Jan, a 15-year attorney who joined the firm in 1993, focuses on real property litigation, including landlord-tenant matters, land use disputes and lease enforcement litigation; administrative writ proceedings; trusts and estates litigation; and general business litigation. As trial counsel for many of the firm's major clients, Jan manages litigation matters from start to finish, and has handled numerous trials in both state and federal courts, including jury trials in real property litigation matters that resulted in substantial verdicts in favor of the firm's clients. Additionally, Jan has extensive experience in taking cases through alternative dispute resolution, including mediation and arbitration. Finally, Jan also practices in the appellate courts, handling all aspects of appeals as well as extraordinary writ review. Jan is admitted to practice in California and also Colorado, where she lived for a brief period of time, as well as several federal district courts in both states.
