Downey Brand Strengthens its Employment and Litigation Practices with the Return of Elizabeth B. Stallard

Downey Brand is pleased to announce that Elizabeth B. Stallard has joined the firm as a partner in its Employment group. Stallard arrives after serving as Senior Staff Counsel to the California State Auditor, where she advised the agency on legal issues stemming from its audits of public entities, as well as assisted with litigation matters.

This move is a homecoming for Stallard, a trial lawyer and employment law counselor who practiced at Downey Brand for over six years. Stallard will again be advising clients on a wide range of issues, including employment, ADA compliance and access matters, class actions, intellectual property claims, and environmental concerns. “I’m excited to be returning to such a great law firm and to be representing the clients I enjoyed so much,” Stallard said. “Downey Brand has a terrific reputation in so many areas, and I look forward to practicing law again with exceptional lawyers and great friends.” Managing Partner Scott Shapiro is enthusiastic about Stallard’s return: “We are thrilled with Liz’s decision. We have seen an increase in business and were looking to expand our employment group and meet some specific needs our clients have identified. Liz is the perfect fit.”

An active member of the community, Stallard currently serves on the Board of Trustees for the Sacramento Zoological Society and is a recent Leadership Sacramento graduate. She is also a member of the Federal Bar Association, Sacramento County Bar Association and Washoe County Bar Association. Stallard received her law degree from New York University School of Law and earned a B.A. degree from Willamette University. She is licensed to practice in California and Nevada, and will serve clients from both the Sacramento and Reno offices of Downey Brand.
